Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Slot Review

Who doesn’t want to be a millionaire? Given the chance, it’s an opportunity that few would pass up, especially if it involved little more than answering a few general knowledge questions correctly. You can’t literally become a millionaire playing this 5-reel slot from Ash Gaming, but you can still pocket a packet, and that’s good enough.

The naughties’ favourite TV show is given the video slot treatment as Ash Gaming rebrand the Chris Tarrant-fronted quiz show for a new audience. Put your fastest finger on the buzzer and get ready to trouser some serious cash.

      One Million Reasons to Win

Ash Gaming have a reputation for tackling big British brands, with an emphasis on reality TV and popular game shows. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is tailormade for receiving the Ash Gaming treatment and this adaptation is a marriage made in heaven. There was once a time, not so long ago, when Who Wants to Be a Millionaire was the only game show in town, back when game shows still mattered and commanded huge audiences.

The real winner from the series, which was syndicated and franchised worldwide, was Chris Tarrant, who made a tidy sum from fronting the show. Nothing good lasts forever, and like all game shows, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire eventually had its day. Its memory lives on though in the collective consciousness, particularly in Britain, with slots like this serving to bolster the nostalgia. At its peak, the Endemol TV show even sparked Slumdog Millionaire, a blockbuster movie set in India.

      Ask the Audience

You’d expect a game modelled on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire to incorporate the features that made the game show so famous, and you’d be correct. From 50:50 to Ask the Audience and Phone a Friend, Ash Gaming’s take on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire incorporates much of the magic from the original series. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is a 5-reel, 20 payline slot with a line bet that can be set to various levels, resulting in a minimum 0.50 bet, and maximum bet of 400 per spin.

The game features scatters which deliver free spins and shifting wilds which adjust on the reels to generate additional wins. There’s also the potential to instantly win on the reels with the aid of prize pick scatters. Symbols include a £ symbol, a question mark and a cheque for £1 million. Wild is played by an image of the studio audience and will substitute for any of the regular symbols except for scatter.

      Phone a Friend

The progressive ladder bonus will account for the largest wins you’re likely to land playing this slot. As you make your way up the money ladder, you’ll be aided by certain segments that have been completed in advance. You have three lifelines, just like the game show, and there are mystery squares to land on that can advance you forward additional spaces.

There are also free spins to be won in the game, with up to 20 available depending on how many scatters triggered this feature. You might also encounter sticky wilds here, which will shift to the left after each spin, before disappearing after alighting on reel one.

      Try Cat N’ Mouse

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is a medium variance slot with an RTP of 91%, which is markedly lower than average. From a playing perspective, Cayetano’s Cat N’ Mouse has similar features, but a better fit, thematically at least, is Take Me Out by Gamesys. This emulates many of the same features that make Who Wants to Be a Millionaire such a successful slot.

Alternatively, try Electracade’s Millionaire Slot. It’s a thinly disguised version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire with very similar features and symbols. In essence it’s the knock-off Who Wants to Be a Millionaire – think of it as Who Wants to Be a Thousandaire.

      Go For It

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is a faithful take on a classic British quiz show, one that will keep you hooked as you nostalgia hard and try your best to make it to the top of the bonus ladder. It may have a lower than average variance, at 91%, but we still recommend you give this one a spin. It’s as addictive as the TV show was!
