       Moon Festival Slot Review

Every year in late September or early October, the people of China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and more gather to celebrate the mid-autumn festival, according to their moon-based calendar.

For the gamblers out there and all around the world, Moon Festival is also a video slot game developed by Aristocrat. As yet another addition to the large family of Chinese-inspired slot games, Moon Festival brings a real challenge with a high volatility and a lot of credits to win, if you are willing to risk a few in the first place.

In its 5×3 layout, Moon Festival is taking players on a beautiful journey East with some interesting bonus features to look forward to and many ways to win at every spin. An interesting mix that should attract a vast audience, so let’s what the game is exactly about in our full review here.

      Full Cultural Immersion

Moon Festival sticks to a rather old-school look, and overall the graphic quality of the game is far from stellar. The background shows roses and the night sky, while the reels are floating in front of the players’ eyes within a simple golden frame with and old-school command bar in the lower part of the screen.

Moon Festival has a bit of a disappointing look. Overall, the game has some beautiful graphic elements but the resolution is simply way too low to allow players to fully appreciate. Stay away from the full-screen button if you don’t want the pixels to grow even larger and head on to the next section to learn more about the basic gameplay.

      High Roller Paradise

Moon Festival contains 5 reels and 50 fixed paylines. You can use the large plus and minus buttons in the command bar to bet from 12.50 to 500 credits per spin. Remember that Moon Festival has a rather high volatility, and scoring even small prizes can be quite a challenge in the base game. If you want to speed up the game a little, turn on the autoplay game mode and let the reels spin freely for a while.

The paytable of the game contains very old-school card icons in addition to more original symbols such as lotus flowers, musical instruments, jade statues and more with a maximum reward of x100 available. When we tested the game, it was quite difficult for us to score any decent win at the beginning. High rollers out there will be delighted at the challenge, but this could put off quite a lot of beginners or more prudent players at the same time.

A Little Help on the Way

Players should keep an eye on reels 2, 3 and 4 at all times as they play Moon Festival, because these are the only positions where the moon symbol can appear. As the wild card of the game, you can use it to replace all the basic symbols and create some extra winning combinations in the process, with a little luck.

On the other hand, reels 1, 2 and 3 are where the red paper lantern can show up. As a scatter, it can award 10 free spins to the lucky players during which all wilds will stay in position until the end.

A Big Challenge for All Players

Moon Festival is built on classic rules and was quite disappointing to us in terms of graphic quality. The gameplay is also predictable, but fans of old-school slots will certainly like it. Moon Festival is probably best enjoyed by experienced players who have both the patience and the credits necessary to keep the reels spinning for a long time, until a big win is triggered.

Players still looking forward to doing some stargazing can try Moon Goddess, a Bally slot game with a lower volatility and a more developed graphic universe as well.
